Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising and daily store operations. This limited-period role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager position while ensuring store targets and policies are followed.

You will assist in recruiting, supervise staff, manage cash controls, and participate in opening/closing the store, with emphasis on customer service leadership and compliance with company procedures.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Requires basic math including percentages for daily operations.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiar with cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, store keys, etc.).
• Experience with recruiting, interviewing and hiring processes preferred for external candidates.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
• Spanish language skills may be preferred at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.

• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cash controls.
• Help maintain a clean, well-stocked store and safe environment.
• Support store management in daily operations and reviews of business trends.
