Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager with staff supervision, inventory, merchandising, and store operations. This role supports development for external candidates and is limited in duration.

You will help recruit, staff, stock, price and present merchandise, manage inventories, and ensure customer service excellence while maintaining cash controls and store security.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and perform basic math.
• Familiarity with cash handling, deposits and register reporting.
• Experience with inventory, ordering and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Oversee stock, merchandising and pricing per store directions.
• Support inventory management, damages, markdowns and reporting.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide strong customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policy compliance.
• Participate in opening/closing store activities.
• Ensure safe handling of funds and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Assist in store operations during the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and cost opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on deadlines.
