Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising and customer service leadership. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager path and requires adherence to store policies and procedures.

You will assist in recruiting, manage stock, and help drive in-stock targets while maintaining cash controls and store safety. Travel to nearby stores may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including deposits and accountability.
• Occasional travel to other Dollar General stores may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, and stock checks.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Open and close the store; ensure cash control and deposits.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
