Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and daily operations. This role is intended to develop a candidate for a Store Manager position over a limited period.

The successful candidate will assist in recruiting, maintain in-stock levels, ensure proper cash handling, and lead by example in customer service. Travel to nearby stores may be required and the environment is fast-paced.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures manuals.
• Mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and reporting.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Understanding of federal labor laws and store policies.
• Bilingual Spanish may be preferred at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing.
• Manage inventory including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies.
• Participate in opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe handling of company funds and cashier accountability.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
