Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising employees, staffing, inventory management, stocking and receiving, paperwork, and store needs. This position is used to develop external candidates for the Store Manager role for a limited period.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures.
• Perform basic math including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and compliance processes.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to solve problems with limited standardization.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in staffing and recruitment activities.
• Support merchandising, stocking, and pricing per store guidelines.
• Help with inventory management, damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide strong customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies in daily work.
• Participate in opening and closing store activities.
• Assist in safeguarding company funds and cash control.
• Ensure clean, safe, and well-stocked stores.
• Run store in the manager's absence and review operating statements.
