Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in daily retail operations, staffing, inventory, and customer service excellence. This role focuses on developing external candidates for future store leadership and involves hands-on supervision, training, and process adherence.

Key duties include recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, order fulfillment, cash handling, and ensuring a safe, clean store environment. Travel to nearby stores may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise according to established practices.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure the safe deposit of all company funds.
• Assist in ensuring financial integrity through cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for business trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines.
