Job summary

APAC-AL, Inc. in Alabama is seeking an Asphalt Roller/Compactor Operator to support heavy highway projects and ensure safe, efficient operation that meets compaction specifications.

Qualifications

• Experience operating an Asphalt Roller or similar earthmoving equipment is preferred.
• Ability to operate safely and efficiently on road construction sites.
• Knowledge of asphalt and aggregate characteristics and rolling patterns.
• Familiarity with maintaining grades and reading measurements.

Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt rollers and compactors to meet compaction specifications on heavy highway projects.
• Follow grades and maintain safe work practices at all times.
• Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance as needed.
• Read and interpret measurements and basic mathematical calculations.
• Maintain reliable attendance and a positive attitude on site.
• Capable of passing required physical examinations and lifting up to 30 pounds.

This position involves the safe and efficient operation of Asphalt Rollers and compactors to bring asphalt, soils and aggregate within compaction specifications on heavy highway projects.

Requirements

• Experience in the operation of an Asphalt Roller on road construction projects preferred.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of asphalt and aggregate characteristics
• Knowledge of rolling patterns.
• Familiarity with vibrating frequencies in comparison to maximum depth.
• Must be able to follow grades.
• The job duties described herein are not exhaustive and may be supplemented
• Must be able to repetively lift 30 pounds, walk, stoop, squat, sit, kneel.
• Capable of passing required physical examination
• Knowledge of equipment and their uses
• Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication)
• Knowledge of basic measurements and how to read a tape measure
• Maintain reliable attendance, meeting company standards, and maintain a positive attitude.
