Job summary

APAC Atlantic, Inc. seeks an Asphalt Quality Control Technician to sample and test asphalt products, ensuring compliance with specifications. You will coordinate testing with management, plant personnel, crews, and DOT inspectors, performing QC tests in lab or roadway settings and maintaining test records.

The role requires strong communication, math skills, and knowledge of safety protocols. DOT certifications are required; NCDOT certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to interpret and apply instructions in English
• Must obtain and maintain DOT certifications to test asphalt as required by state regulations
• Must be 18 years or older
• Ability to follow specifications set by NCDOT
• Ability to work as a team member and alone
• Must be self-motivated
• Ability to work with chemicals
• Ability to adapt to last-minute schedule changes; overtime may be required
• Must adhere to PPE policy and safety procedures
• Must have valid driver’s license
• Experience in asphalt lab, production, or lay-down preferred
• Current NCDOT Lab Certification preferred
• Current NCDOT Mix Design Certification preferred
• Current NCDOT Roadway Certification preferred
• Density gauge experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Sample asphalt product and coordinate scheduling with APAC management, plant personnel, crewmembers and inspectors
• Perform Asphalt Quality Control Tests in lab or on Roadway and compile data
• Ensure a safe work environment following safety policies and OSHA/MSHA procedures
• Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations
• Prepare and record accurate information; maintain test results database
• Obtain required certifications in a timely manner
• Perform general cleaning of work areas
• Assist internal and external customers in quality-related matters
• Other duties as assigned
• Maintain courteous and professional conduct with coworkers, customers and public
