Job summary

Lone Star Paving in Central Texas is seeking an Asphalt Chip Spreader Distributor Operator to join its asphalt team. You will operate the chip spreader, apply aggregates, and support the crew foreman to maintain quality and safety on road projects.

This mid-level role requires 2–3 years of paving equipment experience, a valid driver’s license, and a commitment to working outdoors across Texas. The position offers full-time hours, competitive pay, and a benefits package.

• Minimum 2–3+ years' experience operating paving equipment within the asphalt industry.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to run, maneuver, and drive the chip spreader distribution equipment.
• Ability to evenly and accurately apply aggregate over surface treatments at correct rate and to project specifications to ensure quality standards and durability.
• Inspects equipment before operating to make sure it is in good working order and ready for the day, including post shift inspection for the same.
• Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues with equipment, performing minor maintenance (such as greasing), and coordinating with the maintenance team and management about equipment needs and issues.
• Keep accurate records of materials used, work performed, and equipment maintenance and status.
• Coordinate with team members, including foreman, superintendent, truck drivers, rollers, and other equipment operators for efficient workflow.
• Practices awareness of others working alongside the machines, and exercises safety practices at all times. Safety is essential!
• Perform general laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or prep crews.
• Will be expected to leave the machine as required by foreman and job perimeters to help shovel, rake, and handle other tools and equipment.
• May be called upon to run power tools.
• Must demonstrate coordination of function and possess the strength required to use all controls of the equipment on heavy equipment safely.
• Ability to remain stationary in the seat or operating area of the equipment for prolonged periods
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
• Strong oral communication skills to interact with other workers on the jobsite
• Ability to perform other duties as requested and assigned.
