Job summary

City of Chicago is seeking a Community Services Representative to support the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities in Illinois. The role focuses on outreach, training, and data reporting for Deaf and Hard of Hearing youth in grades 6-12 across the state.

You will develop materials, conduct ASL-based lessons, coordinate events, and promote accessibility programs while engaging with the disability community and schools. Position is in the public service career track.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences or a directly related field plus two years of community or social services experience.
• Associate’s degree plus four years of community or social service experience.
• Master’s degree or higher plus one year of community or social service experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops presentations and training materials for Deaf and Hard of Hearing youth in Illinois.
• Outreach to Deaf and Hard of Hearing programs to identify training opportunities.
• Prepare handouts for trainings and outreach to community groups.
• Maintain records and prepare reports on outreach and training activities.
• Conduct research on topics related to substance use prevention for Deaf and Hard of Hearing populations.
• Promote MOPD programs on social media and newsletters.
• Attend community meetings and events to inform residents of MOPD services.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver ASL lessons (beginner to advanced).
• Promote Deaf culture, accessibility, and language equity.
