Job summary

Propio Language Services is seeking American Sign Language onsite contract interpreters in the Dayton, Ohio area to facilitate accurate and meaningful communication across various settings. The role requires proficiency in English and ASL, and at least one year of interpreting experience as an independent contractor.

Independent contractor relationships apply; no guaranteed minimum hours. Compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and client-specific requirements is expected, along with professional ethics

Qualifications

• Must have professional proficiency in English and American Sign Language.
• At least 1 year of interpreting experience.
• RID, EIPA 3.7+, or BEI certification.
• Ability to travel to onsite assignments.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate consecutive interpretation between English and American Sign Language during onsite assignments.
• Provide remote interpretation by telephone or video when applicable to an accepted assignment.
• Follow interpreter ethics, confidentiality, privacy, security, and assignment protocols.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy, security, and data-protection requirements applicable to each assignment.
• Maintain professional language proficiency, terminology, and subject-matter knowledge necessary to perform accepted assignments accurately and professionally.
• Maintain professional interactions with clients, patients, customers, visitors, healthcare professionals, and other participants.
