Job summary

Propio Language Services, Inc. is seeking American Sign Language on-site contract interpreters for the Kansas City metro area.

The role involves accurate English–ASL consecutive interpretation, with occasional remote interpretation by phone or video and strict adherence to client confidentiality and privacy standards. Qualified candidates will be fluent in English and ASL, hold at least one ASL certification (RID, EIPA 3.7+, BEI), and have a minimum of one year of interpreting experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Proficiency in English and American Sign Language.
• Ability to interpret between English and ASL.
• Hold at least one ASL certification (RID, EIPA 3.7+, BEI).
• State-specific ASL interpreting license where applicable.
• Resume in English during application.
• Background checks and health/privacy requirements as needed.
• One or more years of professional interpreting experience.
• Experience in medical, legal, community or educational interpreting.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and professional consecutive interpretation between English and American Sign Language during onsite assignments.
• Provide remote interpretation by telephone or video when applicable.
• Follow interpreter protocols and client requirements.
• Comply with confidentiality, privacy, and data-security requirements.
• Maintain professional interactions with clients and participants.
• Maintain language proficiency and subject-matter knowledge for assignments.
