Job summary

Propio Language Services is seeking American Sign Language onsite contract interpreters in the Kansas City, MO/KS metro area. You will perform consecutive interpretation between English and ASL on healthcare, education, and other settings, and may provide remote interpretation when needed.

This independent contractor role requires 18+, English and ASL proficiency, one or more ASL certifications (RID, EIPA, or BEI), a background check, and ability to travel to assignments.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Proficiency in English and American Sign Language.
• Ability to provide interpretation between English and ASL.
• Hold at least one ASL certification (RID, EIPA, BEI).
• State-specific ASL interpreting license where applicable.
• Résumé in English with applicant.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to travel to onsite assignments.
• Background check and/or drug screening may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate consecutive interpretation between English and ASL onsite.
• Provide remote interpretation by telephone or video when applicable.
• Follow interpreter protocols and client requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy and security requirements.
• Interact professionally with clients, patients, and staff.
• Maintain up-to-date terminology and subject-matter knowledge.
