Job summary

Propio Language Services is seeking American Sign Language onsite contract interpreters for the Fort Worth, Texas Metro Area. The role focuses on accurate consecutive interpretation and remote interpretation by phone or video where needed.

Applicants must be 18+, fluent in English and ASL, and hold at least one ASL interpretation credential (RID, EIPA 3.7+, or BEI). Independent contractors may accept assignments with client confidentiality and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Professional proficiency in English and American Sign Language.
• Ability to accurately provide interpretation between English and American Sign Language.
• Must hold at least one American Sign Language certification (RID, EIPA 3.7+, BEI).
• State specific ASL interpreting license where applicable.
• Submission of a current résumé in English during the application process.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education/experience, where required by applicable client credentialing standards.
• Basic computer and technology proficiency.
• Ability to travel to and from accepted onsite assignments.
• Background checks / drug screening may be required depending on client/site requirements.
• One or more years of professional interpreting experience.
• Medical, legal, community, educational, or social-services interpreting experience.
• Relevant interpreter training, credentials, or certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and professional consecutive interpretation between English and American Sign Language during onsite assignments.
• Provide remote interpretation by telephone or video when applicable to an accepted assignment.
• Follow applicable interpreter protocols, professional standards, and client requirements.
• Comply with applicable Propio and client requirements relating to interpreter ethics, confidentiality, privacy, security, safety, and assignment protocols.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with privacy, security, and data-protection requirements applicable to each assignment.
• Maintain professional interactions with clients, patients, customers, visitors, healthcare professionals, and other participants.
• Maintain professional language proficiency, terminology, and subject-matter knowledge necessary to perform assignments accurately and professionally.
