Job summary

Propio Language Services in Chicago, IL is seeking American Sign Language onsite contract interpreters to provide accurate consecutive interpretation and remote interpretation when needed. You’ll follow client requirements and Propio standards.

Requirements include RID/EIPA/BEI certification, one year of interpreting experience, ASL/English proficiency, a high school diploma, and the ability to travel to assignments.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Proficient in English and American Sign Language.
• Ability to interpret between English and ASL.
• Hold RID, EIPA 3.7+, or BEI certification.
• State interpreting license where applicable.
• Submit current résumé in English.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer/tech proficiency.
• Available for on-site travel to assignments.
• Background, security, or drug screening may be required.
• One+ year of professional interpreting experience.
• Experience in medical, legal, educational, or social-services interpreting.
• Relevant interpreter training or credentials.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate consecutive interpretation between English and American Sign Language during onsite assignments.
• Provide remote interpretation by telephone or video when applicable.
• Follow interpreter protocols, professional standards, and client requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy, security, and data-protection rules.
• Maintain professional interactions with clients and participants.
• Maintain language proficiency and subject-matter knowledge.
