Job summary

The California State University Monterey Bay invites qualified interpreters to join its ASL Interpreter pool. Interpreters provide in-person and remote services for classrooms, meetings, and events, translating between ASL and spoken English with accuracy.

Duties also include attending SDAC meetings and maintaining time and service records. Minimum qualifications include two years of interpreting experience and a four-year degree or equivalent; RID certification or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant interpreting experience in various settings.
• Four-year college degree or equivalent in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person and remote interpreting services for lectures, meetings, and events from English into ASL or other sign systems, ensuring accuracy of register and content.
• Translate responses from sign language into English.
• Attend SDAC meetings and maintain an hours/training log monthly.
