Job summary

CSUMB invites applications for an ASL Interpreter pool recruitment at the Monterey Bay campus. The part‑time hourly role supports Deaf and hard‑of‑hearing students in classrooms, study groups, and events, delivering accurate ASL interpretation in person and remotely as needed.

The interpreter will translate between English and ASL, assist with field trips and university functions, and maintain detailed monthly logs.

Qualifications

• Two years of interpreting experience in a variety of settings.
• RID Code of Professional Conduct knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of Deaf Culture and ASL terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person and remote ASL interpreting for classes, events and meetings.
• Translate from sign language to English and vice versa while preserving tone and content.
• Attend SDAC meetings and maintain accurate hour logs and prep time.
