Job summary

State Center Community College District in California seeks a Temporary Sign Language Interpreter to provide ASL interpretation and transliteration for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students, faculty and staff across classrooms and campus settings.

Under general supervision, you will consult with faculty, follow NAD-RID ethics, and support equity through culturally responsive interpreting services within FCC Student Services.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or Interpreter Training Program completion.
• One year interpreting experience in an educational setting.
• Knowledge of NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct and educational ethics.

Responsibilities

• Performs ASL interpreting services for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students, faculty and staff in classrooms and other settings.
• Consults with faculty to identify potential problems and advises on communication methods.
• Follows NAD-RID ethics and advocates for D/HH students and faculty.
• Demonstrates cultural responsiveness and equity-minded practices within the District.
