Job summary

The College of Southern Nevada seeks an ASL Interpreter to provide American Sign Language interpretation for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, employees, and community members across CSN programs, services, and events.

Responsibilities include interpreting English to ASL and ASL to English, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to RID Code of Professional Conduct and CSN policies. Assignments may include courses, meetings, trainings and community events.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Registered with the state of Nevada as a Community Interpreter.
• National certification: EIPA or NAD-RID certification.

Responsibilities

• Accurately interpret spoken English into American Sign Language and American Sign Language into spoken English.
• Communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
• Exercise professional judgment and make independent decisions in a variety of interpreting settings, consistent with RID Code of Conduct and CSN policies.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and records in line with FERPA and institutional requirements.
• Complete service verification records and other documentation accurately and on time.
• Demonstrate professional conduct, reliability and effective workplace collaboration.
• Represent the institution professionally and comply with policies and standards of conduct.
• Maintain interpreting credentials and state licensure, and participate in ongoing professional development.
