Job summary

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) seeks skilled sign language interpreters to facilitate communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, faculty, staff and guests across classrooms and campus events.

Interpreters will work with the Interpreting program, providing accurate translation between American Sign Language (ASL) and Signed English, while maintaining ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Complete an Interpreter Training Program (ITP).
• Possess professional certifications (NIC, RID CI/CT, NAD III/IV/V).

Responsibilities

• Provide communication access by conveying verbal information into a visual–gestural mode.
• Support students, faculty, staff and guests within classrooms and campus events.
