Job summary

Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language and English.
• Current NIC, NAD Level V, CSC, CI, CT, CI/CT certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpretation and transliteration in ASL or other appropriate methods.
• Facilitate communication between Deaf employees and hearing staff in meetings, lectures, events, and trainings.
• Assess environmental factors and adjust for effective communication accessibility.
• Interpret lectures, presentations, and discussions, translating to spoken English.
• Prepare for assignments by reviewing materials and terminology to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain positive relationships with students, staff and stakeholders to support accessibility.
• Stay current with interpreting practices, technology, and relevant legislation through ongoing education.
• Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
• Perform related duties to support accessibility and communication needs.
