Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our diesel fleet, including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. Use your heavy equipment experience or diesel mechanic education to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.

The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and teamwork, with shifts and benefits including tool reimbursement, tuition assistance for ASE certifications, and shift differential pay.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or GED), preferred
• One year experience in vehicle maintenance or plus a maintenance certificate/Apprentice Program completion
• One or more ASE certifications for medium/heavy trucks and CDL Class A preferred
• Must possess the necessary tools to perform tasks
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools for troubleshooting
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostics
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines
• Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices
• Able to lift approximately 110 pounds with assistance

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble sources and makes adjustments for safe operation
• Works with other technicians in performing preventative maintenance and repairs
• Documents work properly, completes reports in writing and electronically
• Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents the work
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles, as required
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations and company policies
• Performs other duties as required
