Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Prior customer-service, reception, or admin experience is required.
• Medical-office or ambulatory surgery center experience preferred.
• Ophthalmology experience is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism.
• Check patients in and out for scheduled procedures.
• Confirm demographic, contact, and insurance information.
• Obtain signatures, forms, IDs, and insurance documentation.
• Collect copays and patient-responsibility amounts.
• Process payments and provide receipts.
• Answer incoming calls and direct questions to the appropriate team.
• Communicate scheduling information and center procedures.
• Notify staff of arrivals, delays, or concerns.
• Maintain organized reception and waiting areas.
• Prepare and review patient paperwork for accuracy.
• Scan and upload documents into the system.
• Assist patients and families while maintaining confidentiality.
• Coordinate with clinical, scheduling, and business-office teams.
• Protect patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
• Perform additional administrative and patient-service duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

• Greet patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism

• Collect copays, deductibles, and other patient-responsibility amounts
• Process payments and provide accurate receipts
• Answer incoming calls and direct questions to the appropriate team member
• Communicate surgery-center procedures and general scheduling information
• Notify clinical staff of patient arrivals, delays, or concerns
• Maintain an organized reception and waiting area
• Prepare and review patient paperwork for accuracy and completeness
• Scan and upload documents into the patient-management system
• Assist patients and family members with questions while maintaining appropriate confidentiality
• Coordinate with clinical, scheduling, and business-office team members
• Protect patient privacy and comply with HIPAA requirements
