Ophthalmology Surgery Center of Illinois (OSCI) is seeking a friendly, dependable Patient Services Representative to join our team. You will be the first point of contact, greeting patients and managing check-in/out, insurance documentation, and payments.

The ideal candidate has strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information in a busy surgical setting. Experience in medical offices or ambulatory surgery centers is preferred, with HIPAA knowledge

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Customer-service, reception, or administrative experience required.
• Medical-office or ambulatory surgery center experience preferred (ophthalmology a plus).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to stay calm, professional, and helpful in a busy environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and interruptions.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism.
• Check patients in and out for scheduled procedures.
• Confirm patient demographics, contact, and insurance information.
• Obtain signatures, forms, IDs, and insurance documentation.
• Collect copays, deductibles, and other patient-responsibility amounts.
• Process payments and provide receipts.
• Answer incoming calls and direct questions to the appropriate team.
• Communicate surgery-center procedures and scheduling information.
• Notify staff of patient arrivals, delays, or concerns.
• Maintain organized reception and waiting areas.
• Prepare and review patient paperwork for accuracy.
• Scan and upload documents into the patient-management system.
• Assist patients and families while maintaining confidentiality.
• Coordinate with clinical, scheduling, and business-office teams.
• Protect patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
• Perform additional administrative and patient-service duties as assigned.
