Job summary

Texas Performing Arts at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Communications and Fundraising Student Assistant (Work Study and Non-Work Study). The part-time, non-exempt position supports donor relations and fundraising efforts while gaining real nonprofit experience in a performing arts setting.

Responsibilities include data entry, donor stewardship, sponsor activations, event support, and creating fundraising materials.

Qualifications

  • Availability to work scheduled shifts during normal business hours (M–F 9–5) with some evening/weekend events.
  • Effective, positive, and clear face‑to‑face and phone communication skills.
  • Strong independent and collaborative work ethic.
  • Working knowledge of computers and office equipment like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection, entry, processing, retrieval and file maintenance.
  • Assist with donor stewardship.
  • Assist with sponsorship activations.
  • Sort, assemble, organize, and distribute materials and mailings.
  • Research possible foundation and corporate sponsor opportunities.
  • Research and interview current TPA student employees, staff, and guests for fundraising materials (including video creation).
  • Write letters, reports, requisitions, and lists.
  • Assist with special events – setting up, greeting guests, distributing flyers.
  • Represent Texas Performing Arts with a pleasant and professional demeanor.
  • Arrive on time for work and maintain a reliable attendance record.
  • Dress appropriately for work in a casual, yet professional environment.
