Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Bakery Decorator in Jersey City. You will craft and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special orders, using artistic skills to meet quality standards and customer expectations.

Responsibilities include finishing desserts, maintaining production records, guiding apprentices, and ensuring product freshness in the display. A fast-paced environment, strong teamwork, and customer-focused service are essential to success.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6-12 months retail or restaurant experience.
• Complete the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program, or equivalent experience.
• Prior experience within a professional bakery or grocery retail preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, select pastry, and special-order items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes following standard procedures for business demand.
• Maintain production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise products in the display case and ensure freshness and proper rotation.
• Provide guidance to Bakery Decorator Apprentices and team members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Provide excellent customer service and handle phones promptly and courteously.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work and shopping environment; follow safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties with accurate signage and pricing.
