Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Bakery Decorator to craft and decorate cakes, tarts, and pastries, including special orders. You will use artistic skills to finish items, uphold quality standards, and support store programs and Food Safety compliance.

You will train apprentices, assist teammates, and deliver friendly, knowledgeable service while maintaining a clean work area and accurate pricing.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–12 months retail or restaurant experience.
• Complete the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program, or equivalent.
• Prior experience within a professional bakery or grocery retail, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, select pastry, and special-order items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes following standard procedures and maintain records.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise and showcase products in the display case while ensuring freshness.
• Provide guidance to Bakery Decorator Apprentices and team members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Provide excellent customer service and handle inquiries promptly.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work environment and adhere to safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned.
