Job summary

College of the Desert is seeking adjunct instructors to participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that promote student growth and align with the district vision, mission, and values. The primary modality of assignments will be in-person, with classes at the Palm Desert Campus and other sites such as Indio, Mecca/Thermal, Desert Hot Springs, and Palm Springs.

Qualifications

• Master’s in art history, history of art and architecture or visual culture/visual studies OR Bachelor’s in art history and master’s in history OR Master’s in art with a recorded emphasis or concentration in art history OR the equivalent.
• Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Responsibilities

• Meet classes/lab on day and times assigned.
• Develop and implement instruction for each class/lab period which is consistent with the official course outline.
• Develop and distribute the first week of class, a written syllabus for each course to communicate to students course objectives, grading criteria, and classroom policies.
• Abide by department regulations concerning the proper use, care, and security of equipment.
• Adise Supervisor of unsafe conditions or potential hazards and recommend solutions.

Education
