Ocean State Job Lot in Waterbury, CT is seeking a Store Area Supervisor to oversee daily operations and merchandising for assigned areas, ensuring smooth freight flow and excellent customer experiences under a Team Leader.

This role offers a development path toward store leadership. You’ll schedule work, guide teammates, support training, manage inventory presentation, verify pricing, and uphold safety and company policies during opening/closing shifts.

Qualifications

• 1 or more years professional experience in other retail environments required.
• Prior customer service experience, training experience, and prior merchandise ordering, receiving, stocking, and maintenance experience in other retail environments is preferred.
• Computer skills (Google platform including Email, Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets) and Qlik.
• Availability to work as needed by the business including nights and weekends.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Extended periods of moving, standing, climbing, and lifting up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Champion exceptional customer service for diverse clientele and foster an inclusive environment.
• Bridge the gap between customers and corporate customer service for effective resolutions.
• Promote company-wide customer initiatives and loyalty programs.
• Create effective work schedules for the assigned area.
• Guide and support the team to ensure task completion and motivation.
• Support training for store associates and growth opportunities.
• Manage merchandise presentation and signage following company guidelines.
• Maintain accurate pricing, handle stock flow, backroom stock and sales floor.
• Verify pricing accuracy of incoming shipments and report discrepancies.
• Handle packaways, returns, transfers, and recalls per policy.
• Uphold store safety and maintenance standards and perform opening/closing procedures.
