Job summary

Ross Stores in Bowie, MD is seeking an Area Supervisor to support store leadership and oversee a specific area of operations. You will supervise Associates, open/close the store, and ensure safe, friendly, well-merchandised shopping.

The role requires strong supervision, loss-prevention awareness, and daily focus on customer service and brand standards. Experience in retail supervision, excellent communication, and ability to work evenings/weekends are expected.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Fluency in English.
• Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the store and supervise Associates as the Manager on Duty.
• Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean, inviting store environment.
• Participate in Loss Prevention and safeguard confidential information and cash handling procedures.
• Provide leadership and coaching to Retail Associates on cash handling and front-end procedures.
• Maintain store standards in cleanliness, organization and back stock.
• Support payroll administration and scheduling under Store Manager guidance.
