GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the store and the overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervise associates, and ensure a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. They maintain proper merchandise presentation and a clean work area, and execute company operational processes as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
  • Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
  • Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, and managing armored carrier pickups.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear emergency exits.
  • Protect customer safety through accident prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms after hours.
Customer Service:
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, friendliness, and courtesy; recognize associates’ efforts.
Personal and Store Brand:
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and ensure associates adhere to dress code.
  • Keep store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Manage daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards.
  • Receive merchandise trucks as needed and process all merchandise promptly.
  • Handle inbound deliveries, organize stockrooms, and assist with merchandise placement.
  • Secure back-stock and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
  • Reduce loss due to damage and manage signage and floor moves.
Loss Prevention:
  • Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a high customer service presence, and engage with customers and associates to prevent loss.
  • Safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
  • Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
  • Follow all company loss prevention best practices.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
  • Ensure front-end operations meet standards, manage lines, and train associates on register procedures.
  • Control break schedules and ensure equipment functionality.
  • Manage supplies and merchandise at the front end.
Fitting Rooms:
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
  • Audit garment tags and ensure returned merchandise is properly processed.
Administrative Duties:
  • Handle cash pulls, deposits, and front-end controls.
  • Assist with payroll and other administrative tasks as assigned.
COMPETENCIES:
  • Manage work processes, business acumen, planning, talent development, collaboration, leadership, communication, accountability, and execution.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and fluency in English.
  • Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with POS systems.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
  • Operate store equipment and spend most of the time standing, walking, and moving.
  • Bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop as needed.
  • Occasionally lift over 25 lbs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Retail associates and stockroom leads where applicable.
