GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for specific store areas, overall store operations, and supervision when acting as the Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervise associates, ensure a friendly shopping environment, maintain merchandise presentation, and keep the work area clean. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment, reporting unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, and security of cash areas.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear emergency exits.
- Protect customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms after hours.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Be courteous, friendly, and professional; recognize associates' efforts.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance according to dress code.
- Keep store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised.
- Manage daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards.
- Receive merchandise shipments when needed.
- Process merchandise promptly.
- Handle inbound deliveries of non-merchandise items.
- Maintain stockroom organization and security.
- Assist with merchandising and back-stock management.
- Reduce loss due to damage.
- Follow presentation guidelines and manage signage and floor moves.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a high customer service presence, and engage with customers and associates to prevent loss.
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information.
- Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
- Implement company best practices efficiently.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Maximize productivity with best practices, ensure standards are met at the front end.
- Manage line pacing and customer wait times.
- Train and coach associates on cash register operations and policies.
- Control break schedules and ensure equipment functionality.
- Maintain supplies and recovery in the front end area.
- Manage go-backs, security tagging, and merchandise presentation.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Audit garment tags and ensure compliance with policies.
- Ensure returned merchandise is properly processed and tagged.
Administrative Duties:
- Handle cash pulls and bank deposits per policy.
- Control front end operations, including refunds, tills, and schedules.
- Assist with payroll and reporting as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Fluent in English
- Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems
- Basic math skills
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to operate store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, lift over 25 lbs, and use janitorial supplies. Specific requirements may vary by role.

Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
