GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the store, overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation, cleanliness, and execute operational processes as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

  • Understand safety as the top priority and practice safe behaviors.
  • Maintain awareness to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
  • Secure the building, including entrances/exits, EAS devices, cash office, and other security measures.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear emergency egress.
  • Ensure customer safety, report accidents, and respond to emergencies.
  • Test fire alarms and respond to after-hours alarms.

Customer Service:

  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize associates' efforts.

Personal and Store Brand:

  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and ensure store cleanliness and merchandising standards.
  • Manage daily trash removal.

General Merchandising:

  • Ensure recovery, sizing, markdowns, and receiving are performed to standards.
  • Handle merchandise receipt and processing promptly.
  • Maintain organization and security of stockrooms.
  • Assist with merchandise placement and back-stock management.
  • Reduce loss due to damage and ensure presentation guidelines are followed.
  • Manage floor moves, signage, and re-wraps as needed.

Loss Prevention:

  • Follow Loss Prevention programs; maintain high customer service presence to deter theft.
  • Safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
  • Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
  • Follow company best practices to maximize productivity.

Front End Supervision and Operations:

  • Ensure front-end standards and maximize efficiency.
  • Manage line pacing, train associates on register procedures, and control breaks.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, ensure merchandise security and salability.

Fitting Rooms:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
  • Audit garment tags and ensure return compliance.

Administrative Duties:

  • Manage cash processes, payroll, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred
  • Familiarity with POS equipment
  • Basic math skills
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and lift over 25 lbs regularly.

For stockroom shifts, ability to lift over 20 lbs regularly.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Retail Associates, Stockroom Leads (if applicable)
