GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific area of the store and the general operations and supervision of the store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, and ensuring proper merchandise presentation and cleanliness. They also execute and supervise company operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Understand safety as the top priority and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
- Ensure building security, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, and handling armored carrier pickups.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
- Ensure customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to alarms when needed.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize associates appropriately.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure associates adhere to the dress code.
- Keep all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards; teach, assign, and follow up.
- Receive merchandise trucks as needed.
- Process merchandise with urgency.
- Handle inbound deliveries and maintain stockroom organization.
- Assist in delivering and placing merchandise on the sales floor.
- Secure and process back-stock per policy.
- Merchandise the department and back stock, reduce damage loss, and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
- Manage floor moves, signage, and re-wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a high customer service presence, and safeguard confidential information.
- Maintain PVM system, conduct package inspections, and execute company best practices to maximize productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensure front-end standards, manage customer lines, and train associates on POS and policies.
- Control break schedules, maintain equipment, and ensure merchandise salability.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness, audit tags, and ensure merchandise is returned properly.
Administrative Duties:
- Handle cash pulls, deposits, and payroll tasks as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
COMPETENCIES:
- Manage work processes, business acumen, planning, talent building, collaboration, leadership, communication, accountability, and execution.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and lift over 25 lbs. as needed. Specific requirements vary by role.

Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
