Job summary

Ocean State Job Lot is seeking an Area Manager I (Distribution Center) for the 2nd shift in North Kingstown, RI. The role leads a multi-department DC team, directing workflow to ensure efficient day-to-day operations in a fast-paced environment.

You will focus on hiring, coaching, scheduling, safety, and cross-functional collaboration while aligning with OKRs to optimize cost and service. This on-site role requires strong communication and data skills.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience leading and managing teams in large DC/operations.
• Experience in large distribution center operations, logistics or supply chain.
• A college degree with focus on supply chain, management or logistics preferred.
• Experience communicating with diverse stakeholders and using data to influence decisions.
• Strong computer skills (spreadsheets, documents, slides, analytics).
• Lean Six Sigma knowledge and Kaizen experience preferred; bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead hiring and disciplinary processes for team members.
• Coach teams to meet productivity, quality, and accuracy standards.
• Manage performance reviews and provide coaching feedback.
• Develop, assign, and oversee work schedules for efficient operations.
• Maintain safety compliance and foster a safety culture.
• Standardize shift practices across DC areas with management partners.
• Evaluate shift performance against OKRs and drive improvements.
• Ensure timely, accurate DC operations with data validation (wave/floor reports).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and matrix partners as needed.
