Job summary

BKF is seeking an Area Lead - Transportation Design to lead and grow its transportation design services across Northern California. You will drive market growth, nurture key clients, and guide multi‑discipline project delivery while coordinating with regional leadership.

You will oversee cross‑office collaboration, manage major pursuits in highway, municipal, transit, and airport projects, and mentor a team of engineers and PMs. A strong client network and 12+ years in engineering are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in the engineering industry with a focus on managing projects.
• Demonstrated experience in business development and client relationship management.
• Established relationships with Northern California transportation agencies and infrastructure owners in the North Bay and Sacramento Valley.
• Proven track record leading major transportation infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute BKF’s Transportation market strategy in Northern California, incl. pipeline development, pursuit performance, sales, and backlog.
• Lead and mentor cross-office teams to deliver high-quality transportation projects on time and within budget.
• Develop and maintain client relationships to grow market share and opportunities.
• Implement QA/QC processes across the project lifecycle and mitigate risks.
