Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking an Area Manager - Human Resources in Forest View, IL.

This role leads the HR function for the area service centers, guiding employee relations, onboarding, and policy implementation to maximize engagement and service excellence. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or HR, 5+ years in HR management, and knowledge of labor relations in transportation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Human Resources or related field.
• PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as a Human Resources Manager.
• Experience with labor relations in the transportation industry.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, federal/state/local employment law.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance for employee relations and policy/procedure application, including onboarding and progressive discipline.
• Guide day-to-day employee decisions in line with OD values and service excellence.
• Monitor labor relations issues and improve management-employee communication.
• Collaborate with Corporate HR recruiting to engage local schools/colleges at job fairs and events.
• Recruit, interview, and support Service Center Managers in filling openings and succession planning.
• Manage onboarding and orientation with regional HR and corporate input.
• Address questions on benefits, pay, and time-off policies.
• Support FMLA/disability processes with corporate leave teams.
• Provide training and leadership development; advise on WorkDay processes.
