Job summary

Stantec’s Cultural Resources team seeks on-call archaeological field technicians to support projects across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Travel to Maine/New York with duties under a field supervisor, including field, lab work, and artifact handling. Must be able to travel frequently and carry gear up to 50 pounds.

Minimum education includes a B.A./B.S. in anthropology or archaeology and field school completion; 6 months’ experience preferred. Valid driver's license required.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience conducting archaeological survey and excavation.
• Experience with Phase I–III survey and data recovery.
• Knowledge of prehistoric and historic material culture.
• Strong technical skills, good communication, and ability to make field decisions.

Responsibilities

• Perform archaeological fieldwork tasks including controlled surface survey; shovel test survey; and excavation.
• Clean, catalog, photograph, and label artifacts recovered from surface collection and excavation.
