Job summary

Stantec's Cultural Resources team is seeking on-call archaeological field technicians to support field projects across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, primarily in Maine and New York. Work under a field supervisor with extensive travel and overnight stays.

Responsibilities include field surveys, shovel tests, excavation, artifact handling, and mapping, with the role demanding physical stamina and adaptability in varied weather and terrain.

Qualifications

• Fieldwork experience in archaeological survey and data collection.
• Familiarity with Phase I–III methodologies and inventory.
• Experience with digital field recording and mapping software.

Responsibilities

• Carry out field tasks including surface survey, shovel testing, and excavation.
• Process artifacts: cleaning, cataloging, photographing, labeling.
