Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Hamden, CT is seeking an Arborist Trainee Internship beginning Spring-Summer 2027. This field-based internship offers hands-on experience in tree care under seasoned Arborists and landscape professionals.

You'll work 40-50 hours per week, Mon-Fri with some Saturdays, earning $22–$23 per hour. Training covers pruning, cabling, Plant Health Care, equipment safety, and customer service while you develop career pathways in the green industry.

Qualifications

• Must be studying arboriculture or related field.
• Valid driver's license; CDL a plus.
• Interest in tree care and outdoor work.

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree doctor by working in the field with experienced Arborists.
• Pruning, removing, cabling, bracing and maintenance.
• Tree and landscape installation.
• Safe operation of equipment, including chainsaws and chippers.
• Plant Health Care activities, including fertilization and disease management.
• Client service and sales fundamentals.
