Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is offering an Arborist Trainee Internship in Hamden, CT. This field-based internship starts Spring–Summer 2027 and provides hands-on experience alongside seasoned arborists.

You will learn tree care, pruning, planting, health care, and customer service while supporting residential crews. Expect 40–50 hours per week, Monday to Friday with some Saturdays; pay is $22–$23 per hour, CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline
• Driver’s license required; commercial license a plus
• Enthusiasm for proper plant care and arboriculture
• Love of the Outdoors; positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Reliable attendance and punctuality; good collaboration and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree doctor by working in the field with experienced Arborists and technicians
• Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and maintenance
• Assist with tree and landscape installation and safe equipment operation
• Provide Plant Health Care services and client-focused support
• Gain exposure to daily operations and business aspects of a residential tree care office
• Develop client service, sales, management, and leadership fundamentals
• Hours: 40-50 per week; Monday–Friday with some Saturdays
• Salary: $22–$23 hourly
