The Davey Tree Expert Company is offering an Arborist Trainee Internship in Charleston, WV. This field-based internship runs spring–summer 2027, with 40–50 hour weeks Monday–Friday and some Saturdays. The internship provides hands-on training from experienced arborists, hands-on safety, and development in tree care skills.

Salary is $22–$23 per hour, with opportunities for growth across multiple service lines and nationwide locations as you progress in your career.

Qualifications

• Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline.
• Driver's license required; commercial license a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree doctor by working in the field with Arborists and Plant Health Care technicians.
• Perform tree pruning, cabling, bracing, and maintenance tasks.
• Assist with tree & landscape installation and safe equipment operation.
• Support plant health care activities including deep root fertilization and pest management.
• Gain exposure to daily operations and client service in residential tree care.
