Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Charlottesville, VA is offering an Arborist Trainee Internship starting Spring-Summer 2027. This field-based internship provides hands-on experience alongside seasoned Arborists, Climbers and Plant Health Care professionals in tree care and landscapes.

Hours are 40-50 per week, Monday through Friday with some Saturdays. Pay is $22–$23 per hour, with opportunities for hands-on training, safety focus, and career development in the green industry.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic interest in proper plant care and arboriculture.
• Willingness to learn and engage in field work.
• Ability to report to work regularly and punctually.

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree doctor and work in the field with experienced arborists and health care technicians.
• Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing and maintenance.
• Safely operate equipment including chainsaws and chippers.
• Involved in Plant Health Care activities such as deep root fertilization and disease management.
• Gain exposure to daily field operations and business components of a residential tree care office.
