SGA Cost in La Porte, TX is seeking an Accountant to manage the accounts receivable cycle, billing, collections, and cash receipts. You will also back up payroll and accounts payable to keep the finance team running smoothly when others are out.

Reports to the Controller. This full-time exempt role requires 3+ years AR/billing experience and a degree in accounting or finance. Familiarity with ERP systems and project-based accounting is a plus.

Formación

• 3+ years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, and collections.
• Experience with payroll and accounts payable processes.
• Familiarity with construction or project-based accounting is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• New job setup: set up new jobs and customer accounts including contract values, billing terms, cost codes, and retainage.
• Review contracts, purchase orders, and change orders to confirm billing requirements before work begins.
• Maintain accurate customer master data, tax status, and insurance/lien documentation.
• Prepare and issue invoices, including progress billings, time-and-material, and fixed-fee billings.
• Process change orders and retainage billings; reconcile billed-to-date against contract values.
• Coordinate with project managers to confirm percent complete and billable work each cycle.
• Collections: monitor AR aging and follow up on past-due accounts by phone and email.
• Resolve billing disputes and short payments with customers and project teams.
• Track and manage lien waivers and preliminary notices where required.
• Recommend accounts for escalation, payment plans or write-off.
• Cash receipts: record daily cash receipts and reconcile to bank activity.
• Investigate and resolve unapplied cash and customer credits.
• Reporting and month-end: reconcile AR subledger to GL and prepare aging and billing reports.
• Backup – payroll: process payroll when needed and respond to payroll questions.
• Backup – accounts payable: code vendor invoices, prepare checks/ACH, reconcile vendor statements.
