Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• Minimum of one year Lifeguard experience.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard or Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
• Within 30 days of hire: BLS/First Aid/Oxygen certifications.
• Lifeguard Supervisor certification before first shift.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies immediately and according to YMCA standards.
• Enforce safety rules and pool policies consistently.
• Maintain pool areas and perform cleaning and vacuuming tasks.
• Test pool chemicals and keep accurate records.
• Conduct daily equipment checks and ensure available supplies.
• Monitor hazards to prevent accidents and supervise swimmers.
• Maintain required certifications and attend trainings.
• Provide leadership to other lifeguards on duty.
• Collaborate with Aquatics Director on audits and drills.
