Job summary

DuraServ in Houston, TX is seeking an Apprentice Technician to install, maintain, and repair commercial door and dock equipment at customer locations. The role emphasizes mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, safety, and customer service as core duties.

You will learn under experienced technicians, perform basic diagnostics, use hand and power tools, document service activities, and communicate job status to customers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; trade school acceptable.
• Experience with welding, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical knowledge preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, service, and maintenance under supervision.
• Observe basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting tasks.
• Learn to safely use hand tools, power tools, and basic fabrication equipment.
• Maintain a safe and clean job site and follow safety policies.
• Read and interpret manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documents.
• Document basic service activities with mentor feedback.
• Develop communication with customers and team members.
• Assist lead technicians on installations and service calls.
• Follow safety protocols including PPE and fall protection.
• Participate in ADVANCE training program.
