Job Summary

Our Apprentice Cake Decorator plays a vital role in ensuring our pastries are both visually appealing and delicious. In addition to delivering exceptional guest service, you'll assist in creating beautiful cake designs and provide the sweets that make celebrations special. Key duties include training in all aspects of the Bakery Department, including Clerk and Baker functions, with a focus on cake decorating for those with minimal or no retail decorating experience. To succeed, you should be a team player who supports others, is eager to grow into a leadership role, and can inspire your colleagues. Creativity, passion for food, and a desire to connect with customers are essential. Job Description

• Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
• Education Desired: No High School diploma required
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Learn product knowledge and procedures, including product information, special orders, cake programs, portion control, seasonal items, and color mixing.
• Follow procedures to meet out-of-stock goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests.
• Prioritize safety in all tasks for team members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, helping locate products, answering questions, and making suggestions.
• Familiarize with store products to assist customers effectively.
• Handle products and equipment according to food safety and safety guidelines.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to enhance sales.
• Prepare and decorate bakery products, rotate stock, and follow dating procedures to ensure freshness.
• Offer sampling opportunities when appropriate.
• Accurately record special orders to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, work areas, and department to meet sanitation standards.
• Assist in maintaining backroom, coolers, and freezers efficiency.
• Follow department procedures, including setup, order taking, and product rotation.
• Support other areas as needed.
