Job Summary

Our Apprentice Cake Decorator plays a vital role in ensuring our pastries are visually appealing and delicious. In addition to delivering exceptional guest service, you will assist in creating beautiful cake designs and provide the sweets that will be the highlight of our guests' celebrations. Key responsibilities include training in all aspects of the Bakery Department, including Clerk and Baker functions, with a focus on cake decorating for those with minimal or no retail decorating experience. To succeed in this role, you should be a team player who believes success comes from supporting others. You should be eager to grow into a leadership role, inspire your colleagues, and foster creativity in cuisine. Job Description

• Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
• Education Desired: No High School diploma required
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Learn product knowledge and procedures, including product information by category, special orders, cake programs, portion control, seasonal items, and color mixing.
• Follow proper procedures to meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests.
• Prioritize safety in all tasks to protect team members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, helping them locate products, answering questions, and making suggestions.
• Familiarize yourself with store products to assist customers effectively.
• Handle products and equipment following food safety and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to enhance sales.
• Prepare and decorate bakery products, rotate stock, and follow code dating to ensure freshness.
• Offer sampling opportunities when appropriate.
• Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, workstations, and the overall department to meet sanitation standards.
• Assist in maintaining backroom, cooler, and freezer efficiency by unloading deliveries.
• Follow department procedures, including product rotation, order taking, and understanding copyright policies.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
