Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist for the NSWCDD SLBM team at Dahlgren, VA. You will design, execute, and maintain automated and manual tests, connecting requirements to test cases while collaborating with developers and government customers.

The role requires a strong math/physics background, testing experience, Linux proficiency, and the ability to work on-site five days a week. U.S. citizenship and active clearance are required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in applied math or applied/engineering physics.
• 2+ years of applied math/physics experience.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems.
• Demonstrated ability to document and resolve complex software issues.
• Strong requirements traceability and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface directly with government customers daily; occasionally present testing docs.
