Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. in Dahlgren, VA is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM testing team on-site at NSWC Dahlgren.

You will design and execute automated and manual tests, ensure requirements traceability, and collaborate with developers and customers to resolve defects. Requirements include a BS in applied math or physics, 2+ years in applied math/physics, and 1+ years in software testing, with C++ familiarity and Linux experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code
• Experience using Linux systems
• Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers
• Strong teamwork and ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied directly to requirements
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level)
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate closely with developers for rapid resolution
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities
• Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation
